Here is my Patrick Carman review thanks to Erik at This Kid Reviews Books www.thiskidreviewsbooks.wordpress.com. Check out his awesome blog.
Edgar works on the Grove. He helps produce figs to trade for water. The Highlands, the highest part of Atherton, controls all of the water. It is forbidden to climb the cliffs to get to another level of Atherton. Edgar does it anyway and finds a mysterious book. He cannot read it though so he must take it to the Highlands. What will happen when the book’s secrets are revealed? I couldn’t put this book down. I fees like Edgar is your friend. Mr. Carman went to great lengths to describe the geography and science behind Atherton. The website for the book is pretty cool too, here is the link: http://www.hachettebookgroup.com/features/athertonseries/index.html. This book really takes you to a whole new place. Atherton gets 5 out of 5 shields.
