When Nat’s mother goes to Maine and his father presumed dead he is left all alone. Nat’s friend Wayland comes over one afternoon and has a huge sea chest. Nat immediately recognises it as his father’s. They open it up and it has a mysterious message. Nat opens a case meant for his mother and finds a huge pearl. He thinks that it is a clue that his father is on an island that has never been found, Perlas Grandes. Wayland suggests that they search for Perlas Grandes on his boat, the Sea Cutter. Nat gets excited, but Wayland ruins it by saying that he has to get permission from his mother to go. Nat soon finds a way around it, but what will he do about the deadly stowaway onboard the Sea Cutter? This was my first e-reader book! There was a little violence(someone gets stabbed), but I think a 9-year-old could handle it. This book reminded me of Treasure Island a little bit. I liked how in one part(I’m not telling you which) a character reappears from the beginning. It had a ton of twists and turns with some cool nautical stuff. Sea Cutter get 4 out of 5 shields. an advertisement for an arcade game called Pod Fighter. The next day his counselor has a hunch that he may find his sister by playing Pod Fighter. He immediately enters and starts to win, but it isn’t just Pod Fighter they are playing now. It is a maze of lies and deception. Will Mika find his sister?! I loved this book so much I read it in two days. The suspense factor in it is amazing. You feel Mika’s pain and his victory. Great job to Emma Clayton! I give this book 5 out of 5 shields!
