THE ROAR by: Emma Clayton

Mika is distraught by his sisters disappearance. He is stuck living poor and hiding from the animal plague (it is set in the future). He sees an advertisement for an arcade game called Pod Fighter. The next day his counselor has a hunch that he may find his sister by playing Pod Fighter. He immediately enters and starts to win, but it isn’t just Pod Fighter they are playing now. It is a maze of lies and deception. Will Mika find his sister?! I loved this book so much I read it in two days. The suspense factor in it is amazing. You feel Mika’s pain and his victory. Great job to Emma Clayton! I give this book 5 out of 5 shields!

Charlie Benjamin has a record of summoning monsters out of his nightmares. He goes to a sleepover thinking nothing will happen, boy was he wrong! About a week later the biggest monster he has ever summoned pops right out of his dreams. The employees from the nightmare academy have to intervene. Charlie then learns about the “Named”. They are the most powerful monsters ever and they have taken Charlie’s parents! Can Charlie save his parents from TWO of the “Named”?! I give this book 4 out of 5 shields for the action and adventure. Dean Lorey really left me in suspense. This is book uno (1) in The Nightmare Academy series.

When Theo’s friend April disappears, of course, he tries to find her. The police find that April had recently been in touch with a criminal named Jack Leeper. Did Jack abduct April?! If not who did?! I give this book 4 out of 5 shields for the wonderful characters that really develop through the story. I could not stop reading this book because of the suspense. John Grisham really puts you right next to Theo as he tries to find April. This is the second book in the Theodore Boone series.

THE GIVER by: Lois Lowry

Jonas’ world knows no pain or fear. Everything is perfect and safe after the “sameness”. Jonas gets picked to be the reciever of memory. He then learns of everyday things. Will he take these memories the right way? I used to think this book was about saving trees when I first picked it up. Don’t ask me why! I liked this book alot. It really shows you all of the things that we take for granted. It was a little bit sad though. I give this book 4 out of 5 shields because of the wonderful characters that really develop throughout the story.

THE LOST STORIES by: John Flanagan

Would you like wonderful stories to fill in the gaps between books in The Ranger’s Apprentice series? I did! 😀 This story includes Horace’s wedding and how Jenny takes out three robbers. I couldn’t wait for this book to get out! It was so good that I didn’t waste a second on getting it in my free time. No more gaps in this series! I give this book 5 out of 5 shields. I loved how you meet some new characters and how you get to be with old friends too. It was as exciting as always! Three cheers for John Flanagan on this one!

GIGGLE, GIGGLE, QUACK by: Doreen Cronin, pictures by: Betsy Lewin

Farmer Brown is going on vacation so he asks his brother to take care of the farm. He writes a note to Joe, his brother, to tell him how to do eveything, but at the end of the note he says to watch out for Duck. What could go wrong except for, Duck!! What kind of trouble do you think Duck will get into? You have to read it to find out. I give this book 5 out of 5 shields for the hilarious pictures and fun storyline. It is a classic that you never get too old for.
