CATCHING FIRE by: Suzanne Collins

This is the second book of the Hunger Games Trilogy. As the tension grows in Panem, Katniss Everdeen is thrown back into the Hunger Games. Just like in The Hunger Games book, I don’t want to give you much of a summary because it will give a lot of things away. This book has a lot more drama than the first book, but it really fits into the setting. There are tons of huge surprises around every corner. It is cool how Katniss has such a deep and troubled character, it seems as with every decision something new appears. I give Catching Fire 5 out of 5 shields. This book keeps you guessing the whole time! WARNING! This book also has a lot of violence, gore, and a little bad language! It was on the edge with my parents whether I would be allowed to read this book.

THE HUNGER GAMES by: Suzanne Collins

Katniss, a fourteen year old, finds herself at the 74th annual Hunger Games; ready to fight to the death with 23 other “tributes” for food and for their life. Can she survive? The reason my summary of this book is so short is because the author has so many twists and turns put in that I don’t want to give anything away. This book had me hooked from the very start. Suzanne Collins puts so much detail and emotion into this book. I give The Hunger Games 5 out of 5 shields. This book is one of the best that I’ve ever read. WARNING! The book is technically classified as young adult. You might want to check with your mom or dad whether you can read it or not. The reason it is young adult is for the violence- there is a ton of it, gore, and some swearing. My mom read it first and said I could read it, but it was on the borderline of what she would normally let me read. I tagged it for 12 and up. It is still a great book! The Hunger Games is the first book in The Hunger Games Trilogy.

Here is a heads up about the Hunger Games movie: It comes out on March 23. I’m so excited! I would highly recommend that you read the book(s) before the movie. I think I might have Peeta, oh, I mean pita bread with dinner that night.
